When the Hag in the Attic Gets Loud
Whew… this week was a week.
Nothing catastrophic — just one of those stretches where it felt like everything that could go sideways, did.
And in moments like that, I can hear her creeping in — the voice my friend Kim Boudreau Smith so perfectly calls the “hag in the attic.”
You know the one. That inner critic that questions everything:
“Are you sure you’re doing enough?”
“Maybe you’re falling behind.”
“Who do you think you are to do all this?”
Mine was working overtime.
But instead of letting her take over, I leaned into one of the Simply Living Me Mindset pillars — Abundance.
For me, abundance isn’t just about money or opportunity. It’s about remembering that there’s enough — enough time, grace, and space for what’s meant for me. It’s choosing to believe that I’m not behind… I’m right on time.
So I paused, took a deep breath, and reminded my “hag” that she’s not running the show. NOT TADAY, MA’AM!!!
Because that’s what mindset work is really about — not pretending the voice doesn’t exist, but learning how to lead her.
If this week taught me anything, it’s that we all need a moment to check in — a mirror that reflects back who we’re becoming, not just what we’re doing.
That’s exactly what the Simply Living Me Mindset Assessment is for.
This 5-minute tool helps you explore the four pillars that guide how you live, lead, and create:
✨ Authenticity – Being true to who you are
💫 Abundance – Operating from a mindset of “enough”
🔍 Clarity – Knowing what you want and why
🕊️ Independence – Moving confidently in your truth
When you take the assessment, you’ll see which pillar you naturally lead from and which one could use a little more love right now.
If your week has been anything like mine — filled with noise, doubt, or distraction — this is the reset you didn’t know you needed.

The Practice of Abundance
Here’s something I’ve learned the hard way: lack is loud, but abundance is quiet.
It’s easy to focus on what’s missing — time, money, clients, progress — but when you slow down long enough, you realize how much is already here:
The relationships that ground you.
The lessons that shaped you.
The strength that got you through.
That’s abundance in motion. 🌿
So, the next time your own “hag in the attic” starts whispering, try this practice:
- Pause – Acknowledge her voice without letting it lead.
- Reframe – Ask yourself, “What’s already working?”
- Receive – Open your heart to possibility instead of panic.
That shift alone can change your entire week.
Wear the Reminder
When life feels heavy, sometimes we just need something that reminds us — you’ve got this.
That’s what the Simply Living Me Store was created for.
From mugs that start your day with affirmation to sweatshirts that feel like a hug, each piece says:
✨ You’re enough. You’re evolving. You’re right on time.
Closing Thought
This week reminded me that mindset work isn’t a destination — it’s a daily practice.
When that “hag in the attic” shows up (and she will), don’t silence her — guide her.
Remind her that you’re still growing, still believing, and still choosing abundance.
Because abundance isn’t something you chase — it’s something you decide to live from. 💛
